The script seemed nice and cosy, nothing to get your head messed up with. A few celebrities, a simple plan, love story on Manhattan background. Handsome faces, fancy clothes, unknown director, trendy pop music.
Some movies are out on the screens just to help the boys get a new girl. bring yours to such film and you'll find out what a chick magnet flick is all about. She'll be watching attentively and you'll be... trying to put your arm around her shoulder, her hand on her thigh. The room will be filled with either girls with their friends or boys with their to-be girlfriends. No one goes to such movies for the scenario or the way the cast plays its part. You buy pop-corn and soft drinks, find an available spot with if possible enough room on both sides and get ready for an hour and a half of making out.
Chick magnet flicks are girls' movies but strangely attract boys as well, even if not for the same reasons. When you're fifteen and want to go out with a girl your age, don't bring her to Terminator or a Clint Eastwood movie, they'll just fall asleep and you'll be distracted by the film. Love Actually, Valentine's Day... those are the kind of films you want to pick for her. Not that you would fall asleep on her shoulder, but... who knows, she might need comfort and a shoulder: yours luckily.
