I got in!

Hi all of you boys and girls.

Sorry long time no see, I haven't really been present these last few weeks... I'll try to make up for it.
As some of you might have heard from me or someone around me, I was working for Cdiscount as recently as a fortnight ago. Things have changed. For the best. or at least the better.
Quite randomly and not really believing in it, I sent papers for an Air France recruitment campaign here in Bordeaux. As it turned out, I was selected for the written exams that occured on the 21st Feb. and stood home waiting for the results, quite stressed actually. It was a big turn-over in my life and I had never really thought about working for any airline.

On the side, still working for Cdiscount, I was registered as well as a tourist driver but didn't have my first assignment yet. I did, about 3 weeks ago. Eleven englishmen (in two vans) to pick up downtown and drive around in the Médoc (great wine region just north of Bordeaux) all day and drop-off at the airport at 3pm. Quite boozed from the previous night, these gentlemen were really nice to me and gave me a substantial tip at the end of the day. Most of them were at the time on the phone with their respective bookmakers, a very important race was actually taking place in London and all of them had bet money on the same horse. Some nice yelling and brit' swearin'. It was fun and for a first mission, quite interesting and financially rewarding. Will try to get more assignments, if my new job allows it.

The written tests for Air France had been a complete surprise, since I hadn't prepared the slightiest thing. 3 hours divided between english and psycho-technic questions. The english part turned out to be pretty easy even if sometimes the tapes were of bad quality and the accent of the speaker wasn't there to help understand the meaning nor the finality of the sentence ;). I was expecting a phone call quite soon and they did, the very next day I had a lady on the phone: "Sir, your tests were excellent, could you meet with us on Monday?" I went and spent about 45mn being gently interviewed for a Airport-based Commercial Agent position. The answer after that day came late but now I know why and can understand them. We were about 70 to do the written tests, 20 to be called for interviewing and 3 to be called in for day one. And I wasn't part of these 3, just got extremely lucky. It turned out that one of the girls that got selected backed out, and since I was the first one on the back-up list, they called ME!!.

Started last Monday, had a whole week of theoretical training and just started yesterday on the "field". My co-workers are nice, the pay is good, great advantages and in about 6 months the possibility to fly for almost everywhere on the world for cheeeeaaaaaap!

Will tell you more in a couple of days.

Farewell my dear friends.
